A few weeks ago, the inaugural Nordic Data Science Summit (NDSS) took place in Stockholm. With more than 300 attendees, this “first” conference was jam-packed with passionate smart people, interesting sessions, and engaged partners, providing a very promising start to a new community.
Given our passion for data science and how it can transform the way companies and organizations operate, ultimately impacting society at large, LakeTide are proud of our contribution to the event and making it into a success. As always, our CTO Robert Luciani, delivered one of the highest rated sessions of the event, running a workshop on the topic of Apache Spark in practice. Robert also served on the event advisory board together with Anders Arpteg from Spotify, Daniel Tidström and Puya Sharif. I also managed to be part of the fun, acting as chairman for the day, moderating all the interesting sessions on the main stage.
As with most events and conferences it is really the networking and the side discussions that provide the biggest value, compelling you to come back next year. I have attended many events during but I have to say this was one of the most engaged on that front. Nordic Data Sciences Summit is coming back next year but the community is very much alive supported by this event and others. Check it out at www.nordicdatasciencesummit.com where there are more pictures from the event as well as video recordings of the sessions.
At LakeTide we are passionate about what can be accomplished through a strong community and spirit of sharing and collaboration. We regularly have both professionals and students hanging out at our office – and we like that. We are currently planning an informal hackathon with all the necessary things like pizza, beer (or coke)….want to join us for a fun exercise? Let us know.
